Benny
Say hello to Benny! Benny is an adorable 2.5-year-old Chihuahua mix who is a great companion. He loves to curl up in his person's lap every morning, licking chins and seeking affection. He likes to cuddle in general and is happiest spending most of every day with his person. That said, given his traumatic puppyhood and long period as a foster pup, transitioning to a new home will be a challenge for Benny. He needs someone who will take on the challenge with a big heart, someone who is willing to do a lot of work to win him over. To help this transition, his foster family has paid for 3 sessions with a professional trainer. Those sessions will be essential to a successful placement.
Like many Chihuahuas, Benny prefers to bestow his love on one person. His ideal home would be with a gentle woman with small-dog experience who wants an extremely loyal friend. Benny comes when called and LOVES to retrieve his squeaky toys. He knows sit, down, stay, and "dance” and is potty trained. He is fantastic in the car and wants to go for rides anywhere! He is also great in an RV and at campsites. He's a good athlete who can hike for miles on leash. Benny needs a fenced yard as he is young and likes to play, and he needs at least an hour a day of exercise and enrichment. He needs to be the only dog in the home as he is very afraid of other dogs, especially big dogs. He has not lived with cats before but has interacted with them and been respectful. He enjoys children and other visitors, they are always charmed by his playfulness, but he should not live in a home with kids. Benny has a lot of love to offer and will gladly repay you for your effort with cuddles and devotion. He is currently being fostered in Bend, OR. Adoption application below.
Adoption Fee: $299 Benny is up to date on vaccinations, neutered and full medical records will be provided.
steps to adopting
The first step to adopting from The Rawley Project is to make the $5 suggested application donation here.
The second step is to complete the adoption application here. The application takes 3-5 business days to be reviewed. Once completed and approved it is good for all dogs, multiple use and kept on file for 1 year.
Our Vetting policy
Puppies (under 1 year of age) have received a veterinarian exam prior to departing, rabies vaccination (if over 4 months old), up to 3 rounds of DHLPP (dependent on age), Bordetella (kennel cough), deworming, flea/tick preventative, heart worm test and sterilization. Any further medical care or treatment will not be covered by The Rawley Project. Once you take physical possession of the animal the responsibility lies with you. We highly recommend you take you new pet to a veterinarian for a fecal test as parasites are very common in shelter environments and while they are treated before departure, they may need additional rounds of medication.
Adults (1 year and older) are up to date on rabies and DHPP vaccinations and accompany their most recent medical records from a veterinarian. All known issues are disclosed to the best of our ability. Once you take physical possession of the animal the responsibility lies with you.
OUR REHOMING & RETURN POLICY
While we expect you to enter into any adoption with the intention to commit to being that pets forever home, if you should determine, after significant efforts have been made on your part, that an animal you adopt from The Rawley Project is not the right fit for your home we ask that you contact us. We do not have a physical shelter and cannot physically take your animal into our care immediately; however, we will work with you to either rehome the animal or move it into one of our foster homes when available.
**Please note that adoption fees are NON-REFUNDABLE regardless of the amount of time the animal has spent with you. Should you take an animal home prior to signing the adoption contract, it is assumed, by your physical possession of the animal, that you are accepting the terms of said contract.
